Fight For Your Presence

It’s at that moment, when the lights are all turned out and you crawl into bed. When you lie there with thoughts creeping from the back of your mind; rising to the surface. It’ll either make you or break you…
A little bruised, slightly broken, and sighing as you retrieve moments and memories. Wondering whether to rest your head on your pillow and surrender to the comfort of this place, or if it’s worth waking up once more and going into battle the next day.
But aren’t you still standing?! Perhaps slightly scarred; but what’s sunshine without a little rain?? And what’s a journey without rough patches and challenges to overcome?? It can’t all be perfect, and what comes trouble-free isn’t as enjoyed and treasured as what’s fought for.
Wage war and battle for your presence as you attempt to give life a meaning…

You’ll have a lot of time to sleep when you’re dead *

UNAVOIDABLE LAWS -

Read this somewhere and it's pretty funny... Hope you enjoy it! =)

These are the unavoidable laws of the natural universe...
1. Law of Mechanical Repair: After your hands become coated with grease, your nose will begin to itch or you will have to pee.
2. Law of the Workshop: Any tool, when dropped, will roll to the least accessible corner.
3. Law of probability: The probability of ‘being watched’ is directly proportional to the stupidity of your act.
4. Law of the Telephone: When you dial a wrong number, you never get a busy signal.
5. Law of the Alibi: If you tell the boss you were late for work because you had a flat tire, the very next morning or soon thereafter, you will have a flat tire.
6. Variation Law: If you change lines (or traffic lanes), the one you were in will start to move faster than the one you are in now. (Happens every time).
7. Bath Theorem: When the body is fully immersed in water or in the shower, the telephone rings.
8. Law of Close Encounters: The probability of meeting someone you know increases when you are with someone you do not want to be seen with.

Sawa Ahla Group

Today, I felt like sharing a bit about an NGO that have recently got my attention; Sawa Ahla Group. I think it's for a really good cause and we do need such work in our community. The people who have founded it are so giving and committed to what they do; I do believe they'd get a lot of great work done.

I think a lot of people go on in this existence and get so taken with what's happening in their lives, instead of taking a little time to look around. Life isn't all rainbows and sunshine, not even half of it. Just because your life have went smooth and all, doesn't mean others are. That's why I support organizations that give back to the society and leave an impact.

"Sawa Ahla Group is a non-profit organization that was founded in November 2010, but officially registered in March 2012 with the goal to support Lebanese kids and teenagers on the economic and social levels.

Check Mate ♛

What if the ‘Happily Ever After’ isn’t so happy after all?
Life is never a fairytale; those are no more than words written by dreamers
What if Cinderella never made it to the ball?
Sometimes the glass slippers don’t match; just a myth exchanged between readers

What if ‘Never Land’ didn’t exist and you had to grow up?
We can’t always fly “second to the right and then straight on till morning”
What if Alice never stood up for herself and was lost in the universe swap?
Sometimes we lose ourselves as we tend to fall down the rabbit hole with no warning

And what if I told you that life is a game of chess; of you against this being
You can by no means come first; you’re always one step behind

This Is It?!

Another video I just had to share

But is this really it?? .. I think or at least I hope, my life would actually be an edition to that video and it would show more than wandering around and fulfilling this dull yet common version of reality.

I do not seek immortality, but I do want to be remembered

Shake It Out - Florence + The Machine

I am done with my graceless heart
So tonight I'm gonna cut it out and then restart
Cause I like to keep my issues strong
It's always darkest before the dawn

Shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, ooh woaaah
Shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, ooh woaaah

And it's hard to dance with a devil on your back
So shake him off, oh woah

Another song that I think is worth sharing....

To me, this song is all about moving forward and letting go of the past and those dark moments that have held you down for so long. Life is filled with ups and downs, and sometimes we enter wrong doors only to find ourselves lost in a maze with no way out or even a dim light to guide

Search For Your Heart ♥ - Part II

I didn't have a hole in my shoe, but I had one in my soul and in the reality I was living - the lack of satisfaction. I didn't starve for food; my hunger was even worse - I was being eaten inside out just because I never appreciated those little food crumbles, didn't want to eat my vegetables and refused to finish my plate. I didn't have a torn shirt, but I wasn't being the right person in what I had on either...

Those watches, shoes and fancy clothes; meals and restaurants. Those do not set the person I am. Those do not give me an identity to stand with my face held high. It’s the hot water to shower and the comfortable bed; the education my dad managed to provide for me, the manners that my mom taught me and them both taking care of me and raising me up to be the person I am today… Yeah, those are what make you pleased with life. Your family, education and beliefs! These are the true riches any person could ever ask for. That’s the treasure people should go hunting for; a true worthwhile wealth!

You think you’re drowning in despair and that your entire world crashed because you couldn't attend that party, or because your friends already saw you in that outfit. Don’t those thoughts of yours seem petty as you realize that they aren't worth a single dime?

You’re crying over that pair of shoes while they’re happy with whatever they had to put on, and still go out and play. You’re complaining to the waiter that you asked for sparkling water not a normal one, while they’re pleased to know that the food on their plates is only a week old. They did nothing to deserve such a life, yet they still have a smile lightening their faces...

Do you know where I can buy you a heart? Let the Wizard of Oz grant you one, for my dear fellow human, you have lost it as you ran after shiny stars hanging above not knowing that underneath all that light and looks it was just another rock…

Do you think you can find it? Don’t walk around ignoring the fact that there are people out there who are underprivileged. They are just like you and me, they’re a living soul, spirits who have names; do not turn your backs to them just because life had other plans for them and it didn't start with a happy ending.

Please do find it…

To all those kids I met, thank you... They helped me more than I could ever help them and I'll always be grateful<3

Search For Your Heart ♥ - Part I

( Inspired from 'Be The Change' Volunteering Event - Mentioned in the previous post )

Those innocent smiles on their pure faces. Those sparkles in their eyes that shined with hope
They're not aware of it, but they reached out for me, lend me a hand and threw down a rope

From falling in a well of utter materialistic interests and zombie like life, to having a clear vision of what's out there not just a vague corrupted site
From worrying about not buying that shoes or bag, to seeing kids running around in clothes that God knows how old, but they’re alright

They might not have a smart-phone or know a lot about playing online games, but they are having fun more than you know it. It seems enough for them.
They could be living for the day, praying that tomorrow would come... And here you are with more excuses and nagging... And me with trying to write a poem

Hoping these couple of words filling my blog and setting some rhyme for your entertainment to awaken what might have died and turned to ash
Search for you heart as you see some stray child in the street... Search for it before it's too late, before it turns to a rock - We all know rocks fall to the bottom and crash

Instead of asking ‘Why me?!’ or complaining about why can’t you buy that latest technology, take the time to imagine the life that could have been yours instead. Six, seven and eight years old whom had no selection to the life they’re living, yet they had all they needed and seemed content.

Some seemed a little misplaced, confused, lost and a little out of place; but can you really blame such a child? A kid who found himself so different and worlds apart from those among his age. Or the place he came from, that background he called ‘home’ wasn't as warm and comfortable as a home should be…

But never the less, that day, my reality outside that place came to a stop, I was paralyzed and lost my words as I came to speak. I felt shameful for being greedy and the fact that I didn't thank God and my parents as much as I should.

Thank You...

Dear Diary, 'Be The Change' Volunteering

Dear Diary,

Couple of days ago, I volunteered in an organization called ‘Be The Change’. I’m not much familiar with their work or activities, but I knew from Facebook that they were doing an event for orphans. At first I didn’t pay a lot of attention, but then I heard that one of my best friends was going and she encouraged me to attend it together and go through this experience.

Eventually, I did go. I was a bit excited since it was my first time volunteering for orphans. It was pretty much a meal (Iftar), and of course it included before that activities and letting the kids have a good time before dinner. After seating all the kids and serving them food and juice, played a small game, gave them gifts so that they’d remember us we finally put them on the buses back home.

The thing about this volunteering is that I got the chance to meet children whom affected me deeply. My world froze as I saw them, it’s like right there, and at that moment of my day nothing I cared about made sense. Little girls and boys came up to me just wanting to get to know me and have a good time together. All those little things that seemed important to me vanished into thin air as I witnessed the life of those amazing kids.

It was such a great experience, for not only I have helped children who deserved to laugh and enjoy life like we do, I have also helped myself. I grew as a person and it was definitely an eye-opening experience...

Here are some pictures of the event:

Dear Diary, Photography Training

Dear Diary,

A couple of weeks ago I submitted an application to gain several skills. One of this skills I applied to was photography which I got accepted to attend, and yesterday the workshop took place. The training was held at August 4 in Beirut at Zico House with Saad El Kurdi as our trainer.

I was suppose to be there at 10am, but clueless me didn't pay much attention to the location and got late due to discovering so after heading toward a completely different site. After finally arriving there, I was glad they haven't started yet. Definitely learned to read an email with precision for future references!

I'm not going to go on and on about it... Just going to paste my evaluation that I had to send to the organization that sent me the invitation (Aie Serve)

My Evaluation:

The Photography Training that was held August 4 was really good. It had ups and downs like any other training

Advantages:
  • It had a lot of twists that made the workshop educational yet entertaining (The photography slideshow + Field trip)

Disadvantages:
  • The power went off which interrupted the workshop
  • The location wasn't comfortable
  • The screen projector wasn't clear due to bad lighting

Skills gained:
  • Introduction to cameras and getting to know the difference between lenses
  • Knowing more about technical issues: ISO, Shutter speed, Aperture, Focus...etc
  • How to take a good photograph: Vertical/Horizontal - Paying attention to details - Not wanting dead space
  • Learning about Photojournalism
  • Watching a slideshow and pinpointing errors when found
  • Putting our gained skills into the test and going on a field trip in the neighborhood
  • Presenting our photos and having feedback on them
  • Editing your photographs

I with no doubt had a lot of fun and learned a lot! I can't wait to start taking more pictures...
Here are some of what I took there:

Don't Judge Me

Don’t judge me because I can’t afford the things you do, buy the same brands at those fancy stores of yours, and dine in a five star restaurant. Don’t judge me all cause I made other choices, sinned differently, and didn't match your vision of what’s perfect. Don’t judge me until you have walked a mile in my shoes, lived a day in my life, and went through the things that I have...

Live With No Regrets

Life is too short to worry about all those around you who are waiting for you to mess up, slip and fall.

Let them listen to you as you talk in a different language, talk even though you have a diverse accent. Let them watch as you laugh as hard as you can, laugh till you feel like peeing in your pants, laugh and actually pee in your pants! Scream as loud as you can, scream till your mouth runs dry.

Dance even though you have two left feet, dance like there is no one there to judge. Sing like you have the voice of a rock-star, jump down the stairs, and dye your hair purple, be weird and go against the crowd and act stupid.

Don't enter a restaurant and order something you wouldn't eat or a smaller portion because you're not eating alone. Eat like it's going to be your last meal; never turn down that chocolate cake you wanted because they'll think your fat or you'll have chocolate between your teeth.

Wear those glasses even though you look like a dork, I know I do! Work like you don’t need the money, Skate even though you’ll most likely fall on your behind, play with snow and risk getting a cold, run down a hill just because you feel like it… Swim despite that fact that you can’t, swim even though you’re thirty and still wear water floats.

Say what’s on your mind, never waste the opportunity to express what you feel, tomorrow might never come for some of us. Love with all your heart and give it your all, love like you haven’t been hurt…

Never do something you're not comfortable doing because you're being pressured by an audience that doesn't even care. Their review won't matter as long as you're happy with your own skin. If you kept quiet and stood there not to do the show and be a viewer yourself, you'll miss all the fun. You only roam this earth once, so make it worth it and live it with no regrets...

Perfection Is A Myth

No one is flawless…
Just because people appear to be so, doesn’t mean they’re any different from you. Don’t worry about impressing them or putting others as standers to rise up to; they could be in situations that are worse, but covering it all with a smile.
Perfection is no more than a myth that have been spread to fool with our minds. You're perfect just by accepting yourself and showing it to the world no matter what size or color. Whether you were living in a castle or in a one room house - Whether your parents were kings and queens or just someone with a low paying job - Whether you were in a good health or with some sort of disease.
Never feel bad about who you are, people worry too much about appearances that they spend their lives hiding and altering themselves instead of being out there running in the sun or dancing in the rain... Take what life has offered you, enjoy it and smile anyway!

Smile despite the fact that life isn't perfect and neither are you

Somebody That I Used To Know - Gotye Feat. Kimbra

"But you didn't have to cut me off
Make out like it never happened and that we were nothing
And I don't even need your love
But you treat me like a stranger and that feels so rough
No you didn't have to stoop so low
Have your friends collect your records and then change your number
I guess that I don't need that though
Now you're just somebody that I used to know"

This song reminds me of all the people that were once a huge part of my life, but then decided to walk out of it. Whether it was by choice or just situations that eventually made us grow apart; still you always look back at everybody who was once by your side.

A lot of people walked into my life and made promises that they couldn't keep… But in the end they all fall under the category that they’re no longer there for you like they once were. And now when you see each other, it’s either too formal or they never say a single word in the first place…

The hardest part about it, is that even though you don’t talk anymore or you don’t get to see each other or any of that, is that they pretend it never happened… Well, news flash, IT DID. So don’t walk in the street and pass right by without thinking that you never knew me… That’s just… Not right.

Breakups are bound to happen and it will hurt when you pretend that a huge part of you never existed

Days Of Our Childhood ♥

Close your eyes as I sentence you to go back in time
To turn the clock backwards; won't coast you a single dime

All the way to days of catching fireflies and carrying lunchboxes
Being scared of monsters in the closet and making fort mattresses

When you made a best friend by sharing your blue crayon – the color of your skin didn’t matter
When candy was everything you wanted to buy. And ice-cream was the ultimate answer

When nobody was prettier than mom and nobody was cooler than dad
When she waited for you when you got home and you sat on his lap; nothing would ever go bad

When rainy days only meant we'll manage to do everything inside the classroom and continue to play
When chicken pox was entertaining, balloons made everything okay and we played with clay

When it was a big deal to go to an amusement park and finally get on the ‘Big People’ ride
When goodbye only meant until summer is over and no one left your side

When you sneaked up on your toys because ‘Toy Story’ was real
When you spent each day in the sun and everything was ideal

When mistakes were corrected by exclaiming 'do over' and everybody was a friend
When we all played together as one and there was no pretend

When decisions were made by going eeny-meeny-miney-moe
Never having a clue that we’ll soon say goodbye and it’ll be time to grow...

Those days weren't going to last
Huh... They passed by pretty fast

Days of watching cartoons and pretending to be them
Sometimes you’re the bird on a tree, others you’re the stem

Days of wearing a blanket on your back thinking you could fly
Of tip-toeing around the house; turning to a spy

Days of wearing your mom's heels and pearls and acting like a queen
Of chasing each other in shopping malls and making a scene

Days of being afraid of the dark and pretending to be sick just to skip school
Of climbing trees, swinging on swings and following playground rules

Days of bedtime stories and being tucked in bed
Of pretending to be a zombie and playing dead

Days of jump ropes, Nintendo games and flipping coins to make everything fair
Of Hide & seek, pillow fights and jumping up and down the stairs

Days of having a recess to run around and scream
Of no race issues; just one team

Days of didn’t matter what you wore; whether a size two or ten
Of being tired from playing, but we'd sleep just to wake up and play again

Days of ordering happy meals not for the food but the toy; never worrying about weight
Of 10$ feeling like a million & another extra dollar is a miracle. When ten o’clock was considered late

Days of looking at the stars/clouds and imagining shapes occupied an entire evening
Of no matter how bad your voice was u weren't embarrassed to sing

Days of following ants and having a pet bug
Of camping in the backyard and Barni was your drug

Days of melted chocolate all over our faces and still didn't care who was watching
Of ‘Opposite Days’, checking who leaped more steps, "You're it" and racing

Days of cuss words being banned and you didn’t have to be compared
Of having innocence and being treated equal. You were once heard

Remember those days?? Or have you forgotten that you weren’t born yesterday??

Before having responsibilities and driving cars. Just simple cardboard spaceships and the privilege to sit in the front seat
Before x-boxes, PlayStation2 or internet browsers. Before you made quick judgments, lied and cheated

Before changing ourselves to impress others and wearing make-up
Covering who we truly are, claiming that we have grown up

Before caring about sexism, classism or racism and letting our ignorant society take over us
Being misled by social media blinding us from the fact that we’re all the same and making a huge fuss

Before money and popularity controlled and took over - Being mean and acting like jerks because we think it’s cool
Mocking others because they're not the same as us. Abusing people; treating them as a tool…

Before all that… Days of our childhood – How I wish to go back
Enter a time machine and get back to that youth track

But time isn’t on our side and we have to leave it all behind eventually
Yet learn from it… Gather that knowledge and better yourself… Childhood days are the key
